Water Technology Cluster: Terms of Reference

Statement, Vision, Mission & Priority Focus: July 2009
The Water Technology Cluster- Goulburn Murray is a unique evolving collaboration with an interest in creating and developing water technology opportunities for the irrigation industry through cooperation across a range of sectors. It is made up of a range of around 30 regional partners from water technology businesses, universities, local Government, TAFE, authorities, government R&D agencies and irrigation farmers.
The Cluster formally commenced its establishment phase with the engagement of a Cluster Manager for 12 months in August 2008. The project is funded by Regional Development Victoria, auspiced by Moira Shire and supported by a range of private firms and public organisations interested in the increased use of technology knowledge, services and products in the water industry. The Cluster Manager supports the Chairman and the executive committee, reports to Moira Shire and other bodies as required, guides the strategic direction of the project, supports the cluster members and is responsible for all management, recording and administrative functions.
Cluster Vision. The Goulburn Murray to be known as the water technology capital of Australia: where businesses are attracted to profit from mutual support in order to collaborate, innovate and invest, and to export ideas and technology.
Cluster Mission. To provide a collaborative forum to engage, facilitate, educate and lead: where knowledge and expertise is shared so regional businesses, organisations, communities and irrigators can create and develop water technology opportunities for the sustainability of future generations. The Cluster will thereby add significant value to the government and community investment in irrigation modernisation.
Cluster Priority Focus. The Cluster has as its main priority focus the development of an on-farm water sustainability service- package. The Cluster is developing this in collaboration with all relevant agencies and organisations in order to help bridge the gap between modernisation of the public infrastructure and the efficient use of water by the irrigation farmer.
